06.20.06Swimming pool somersaults
Last night was fun. At FHE we played “water games” which was pretty much just a bunch of little games in between a big water fight. At first I just sat on the side and watched like a stick in the mud. Then I realized “That looks like fun. I want to have fun. I want to play” and I got off my lazy butt and took a few water balloons to the chest.
Afterward a few of us went swimming. It started with a few challenges like “who can make the biggest splash”, “who can do the most underwater somersaults”, and the unexpected “who can do the most graceful dive”. Just like before, I started by just sitting on the sides but realized I was being a stick in the mud and joined in. It was nice.
But if anyone ever challenges you to do underwater somersaults … don’t do it.
One guy did 12. I did 5. I don’t know how he did 12 because my head was about to explode after just 5.
My head started to feel better, but it was very slow going. We ended up in the hot tub, but I was still throbing. Sometimes I would just zone out from all conversation and feel the pounding in my head. After the hot tub we all went home. I went to bed, but I couldn’t sleep. My head just kept me awake. I don’t remember how long a laid there. My brother probably wanted to kill me for tossing a turning every few minutes up above.
Eventually I got some sleep, but probably only an hour or two before I awoke to more throbbing. Remarkably I don’t feel that tired at work today.
I think the throbbing is keeping me alert.
