Smooth ride

I can’t exactly say when it started, and I don’t remember how it got so bad, but the rear tires on my car wore down pretty funny. It wasn’t that they were worn on the outside edges, or that the center of the tread was gone. It wasn’t even that some whole sections of the tire were balding faster than others.

The tires were wearing like a checkerboard – hills and valleys across the tire and along the tire.

I got the car aligned. I got new struts put on the back and tried to ignore what the mechanic told me, “It’s going to keep riding rough until you get some new tires put on”. “Ah,” I thought, “I’ll just ride around for a while and the crazy bumps will wear down.

Well, I let it go about two weeks and you know, I just didn’t want to risk messing up my new struts. I laid down the cash and got those tires replaced on Monday.

I should have done this … well, I don’t know how long ago. Months ago at least. The car runs so smoothly and I’m actually not embarrassed to carry passengers.

Well, almost. There’s still the issue with my fussy transmission.
