I have stock

Ha aha … ha …

I have stock! I just bought some stock! I can’t believe it! Me. Stock. I have some!

I just bought 20 shares of ATi. I’m not going to pretend I researched it to death and felt comfortable with the purchase, but here’s my rationale:

ATi, among other things, makes video graphics cards for computers. All those hard-core gamers out there know that if you’re serious about gaming you get an ATi card, or one by nVidia (but don’t buy theirs. I don’t have stock in them). Well, advanced graphics aren’t just for gamers anymore. When the next version of Windows (Windows Vista) comes along next year these graphics cards are going to get more attention. There are certain features of Vista (albeit, purely aesthetic features) that will only be enabled with advanced graphics capability. New computers are probably going to come with better graphics capabilities. Other computers are likely to be upgraded. ATi is poised to benefit from this move.

Now I’m poised to benefit too.

Put that rationale together with a nifty little calculator I found that judges ATi to be undervalued based on their earning projections and … BAM!! Enough for David to buy some stock.

In the world of stock trading, I was noticing that 20 shares is actually a really small amount. I doubt I’m going to make much off 20 shares but, I do like the fact that I’ve already made back $1 of the lousy commission I had to pay.

P.S. I really hope this isn’t necessary, but I feel compelled to cover my back by stating that I am NOT QUALIFIED to recommend stocks to anyone else. Heck, I’m not even qualified to recommend them to myself! You can’t blame me if you decide to buy some stock and you end up losing money. Remember, if you lose money on it, I probably did too.
