Screwtape Letters

Have you read The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis?

If your religious at all … well, maybe just if you consider yourself a Christian (though people of other religions and faiths would benefit from it as well), you should read this book.

The book is a collection of fictional letters written from Screwtape, an administrative demon in hell, to his nephew Wormwood, a young demon doing his best to lead humans astray. Screwtape takes it upon himself to explain the fine art of deception and tempt-ry so his nephew who seems to be struggling.

When I say they’re demons, they’re not of the scarry Holleywood type. These are the demons that go unnoticed as they softly, subtly lead their patients astray.

Every chapter is a letter and every letter is full of tremendous insight. In explaining how it is that a qualified demon should work, Screwtape ends up explaining some of the mind of God. He hits the nail on the head chapter after chapter in describing how Christians may think they’re on the right track but are really walking down the wrong path.

I can’t tell you enough how amazing this book is.
